Last Sunday my beautiful baby boy celebrated his first birthday, a day which was full of joy for us all celebrating the mark of one full wonderful year spent with this little angel in our lives. The day itself was quite busy, Jacek and I were running around trying to finish the decor and food whilst Tyler Lee had his morning nap and then, with my love of photographing everything I had to have some mini photo sessions with my boy.
Tyler Lee's party had a prince theme so his cake had a little blonde haired prince sitting on the top of it. The cake was done by a girl locally but I thought it and the cupcakes were quite plain so I added the silver and gold pearls along with the stars myself. We bought lots of balloons for the party, one balloon bouquet, one '1' balloon on it's own and lots of little balloons for the babies and children to play with. I scattered these all around the floor. We of course had the 'Happy 1st Birthday' banner and I put some of my favourite pictures of Tyler Lee on a string with heart shaped pegs. This was a simple DIY decoration and it was actually my favourite one. I bought bunting for Tyler Lee's highchair which came with a mat to sit under it, I thought this was really cute. I picked up some 'O', 'N' and 'E' letters which acted as both a photo prop and a lovely simple centerpiece for the table. I ordered some personalised royal flag bunting from the lovely Chloris Boris and the bunting is absolutely beautiful. This shall be moved to Tyler Lee's room today. We had a lot of food for the party, too much really - gourmet sandwiches, quiche, salads, biscuits, sweets, jellies, cakes, cupcakes, crisps, everything you need for a party really.
When Tyler Lee woke up we gave him his presents straight away. He was most taken by his baby laptop, maybe he'll start his own blog! He also love his pirate ship and was moving it all along the floor. He was given a bubble maker for the bath and we decided to give it a whirl in the kitchen, Tyler Lee loved his, he was sticking out his tongue trying to catch the bubbles and his eyes were so big, full of wonder at them all.
We then let Tyler Lee do his cake smash before he went for his morning nap. He loved digging into the chocolate fudge cake. His adorable spaceman themed cake smash outfit is from the wonderful Cake Smash Props which saved the day when the other outfit I ordered from America never arrived. This was so messy but he absolutely loved it! I'm so glad we did this cake smash, it was great fun!
Part two of Tyler Lee's big day shall come tomorrow!
