As of late I've loved experimenting with different colours in my hair, I've gone from quite a dark blonde to a mid-tone blonde to bleached blonde and my most outrageous yet - pink, both light and dark! I was sent some hair chalks from L'Oreal Professionnel to try and out and having used some hair chalks in the past and loving the effect they gave to my hair I was so excited to try these out. I was sent three colours - Sweet Sixteen Pink, Blue Ocean Cruise and First Date Violet, however there are seven gorgeous shades to choose from. These do not look like conventional hair chalks, they come in long white containers which, when shook, make a noise similar to a spray can. The chalk's themselves are not actually chalk but come in a liquid form which you apply with a padded applicator. You simply pour the liquid into the middle of the applicator and then press onto the hair section by section. This process was a bit messy but even using conventional chalks is messy so I didn't really mind this.
I decided to do a colourful ombre effect on my hair using Blue Ocean Cruise and First Date Violet. I first applied the violet to the ends of my hair and then the blue on top to look as though the colours were fading into each other, I love how it turned out! The hair chalks are so bright and vivid, especially the blue and are very eye catching. I think these hair chalks would be perfect for the summer festivals and I shall definitely be creating another look with all three colours when I go to see The Prodigy on July 2nd so keep an eye out for a future post with my rainbow hair!
The only thing I didn't like about these hair chalks was how unbelievably hard it was to comb and brush my hair after applying them, it actually hurt so much trying to get the comb through my hair that I had to stop. However, once I had washed my hair it was far more manageable and I still had the fabulous coloured ombre effect, although it was toned down and the colours became much lighter but very pretty nonetheless as you can see in the last picture below. These hair chalks state that they wash out in two washes but here I am six washes later and the colours are still in my hair, I'm putting this down to how light my hair actually is but I really would like the chalks to come out soon! I think these are perfect for people who don't want to fully commit to dying their hair but wish to experiment with some vivid colour. They're really simple to use and are really fun for brightening up some everyday hairstyles like braids and buns.
You can find your nearest salon or stockist of these hair chalks on the L'Oreal Professionnel website salon locator.
Stay pretty people!
