Home & Beauty Haul ♥

I hadn't been shopping in ages and I don't tend to go buy anything unless I really need it but this week I had to go and stock up on a few essentials as I have my son Tyler Lee's christening on Saturday so I'm busy running around trying to get everything organised but of course I also needed to get a few things to beautify myself with for the big day! I've recently been trying to make my house more cosy, home like and updating the decor so I was delighted when my fiance Jacek bought me some gorgeous pieces for my room. Let me show you what I bought and received...

1. Mint coloured flower hair slides from Claire's Accessories - €4.95. The colour of my dress for Saturday is mint and these flower hair slides matched it perfectly. I am backcombing my hair and curling the ends and I wanted to add something to the back of the backcombed section. These slides will be perfect for the look I'm trying to create.

2. Cocoa Brown Tan - €7 in Penneys. Saturday will be my first time going bare legged all year so I needed some glow! I had read so many rave reviews about this tan that I just had to try it and €7 is such a bargain price!

3. Lustro Gel Cushions and Scholl Leather Heal Liners - €1.49 each in Dealz. The shoes I have bought for the christening are sky high and knowing my feet I will have a problem with them so I decided to take precautions and think ahead on this occasion to save myself the agony of cut, blistered or sore feet.

4. Garnier Invisible Mineral 48 Hour Anti-Perspirant and Radox Pure Clear 24 Hour Deodorant - €1.49 each in Dealz. I had run out of my deodorant so that was a necessity and I decided to stock up on anti perspirant as it was such a great price for a Garnier product.

5. Hair chalk in mint green and pink - €1 each in Claire's Accessories. These hair chalks are normally €4.95 but were on sale. I have seen so many gorgeous pictures on Pinterest of people with coloured ends on their hair and I wanted to try out the look without dying. They also had these in yellow and orange but I thought the mint green and pink were far more prettier and nice colours for spring and summer.

These were the home wares Jacek bought me, aren't they gorgeous? I have had my eye on these for awhile so I was a very happy lady when he got me these.

1. Eiffel Tower canvas picture - €3 in Penneys. I love anything with a Parisian theme so I had to have this. I already have another canvas of the Eiffel Tower but I thought this was so pretty with the red car in front, it is so vintage inspired.

2. Ice-cream look candles in 'Pink Icing' and 'Cupcake' - €3 each in Penneys. These candles smell divine, good enough to eat! I always think it's a shame to burn candles as they're meant to be decorative pieces but I think these will definitely be burnt, my bedroom will be smelling delicious!

Penney's have got the most beautiful home wares these days and for such great prices too. I shall definitely be popping in again and picking up more stunning items to make my house a more prettier place to spend time in.

Wet N Wild 'I Need A Refresh-Mint' Nail Polish ♥

I'm really getting into painting my nails these days. I seem to be acquiring a little collection from swaps and giveaways so I decided I should try to use all these polishes at least once and make my nails look somewhat pretty. I was sent two Wet n Wild nail polishes from my friend Kay in California and this was one of the shades 'I Need A Refresh-Mint', a gorgeous minty blue colour which I think is one of the staple spring/summer shades of this year. I was so impressed with my first use of my other polish 'Candy-licious' and I'm pleased to say the experience with this one was no different. The application is so easy due to the pro brush which is wider for easy use. I was so impressed with the vibrant colour and glossy effect of this polish and I now have summer perfect nails!

Wet n Wild 'Candy-licious' Nail Polish ♥

Yesterday I posted about my amazing beauty package swap with my friend Kay from America Click Here if you would like to read all about it. Included in the swap were two Wet n Wild nail polishes one being 'Candy-licious' a gorgeously girly vibrant pink colour. I am such a pink-a-holic so I had to put this on last night. I am quite messy when it comes to doing my nails, the left hand always looks so perfect but when it comes to doing the right it's a complete and utter disaster so I was glad to see that this polish came with a wide angled brush which made application swift and smooth. The colour didn't clump or smudge and it dried super quick - less than two minutes! Usually I apply nail colour and sit there for ages blowing on my nails trying to get them to dry afraid to touch anything in case they smudge or get ruined. I can't recommend this polish enough, I love everything about it and how easy it was to use was such a big bonus for me. The polish gives a lovely glossy finish which I love and what's great about this polish is that the colour in the bottle is the actual colour your nails will be. Far too many times have I applied a polish for it to be lighter, darker, watery on my nails and not the colour I fell in love with in the bottle. I shall definitely be buying Wet n Wild nail polishes in the future. I now have Candy-licious nails, yay!

Pretty Post #3 ♥

This week was a very quiet post week with me only receiving two letters, I was very surprised to receive so few as I'm waiting on twenty-five replies, I currently write to twenty-six people from around the world. The two letters I received both arrived on the same day, from Germany and from two lovely ladies whos names begin with a 'T' - Tina and Tanja.

 1. A lovely letter from Tanja.
2. A lovely letter plus some beauty goodies from Tina - two face masks, a pale pink nail polish, lipgloss and eye shadow and lovely gold and bronze jewelled earrings.

Thank you to these lovely ladies for their letters, as always I loved hearing from them. I shall be meeting Tina for a second time this October when she comes to stay with me for a week. It's so great to be able to meet pals from different countries and spend some time with them. In some cases, like with Tina, it makes the friendship stronger.

This week was also my first time sending a parcel the old fashioned way - wrapped in brown paper and string and I loved the effect. I'd love to receive post like this myself, it's so charming! The picture isn't the greatest as I took it at night, after my wrapping antics were over and you can't see the depth of the package but it is a large box that I sent to a pal in England. This week I sent four items of post and one has already reached it's receiver, I love how fast the post is these days!

Stay pretty people and pick up a pen!

Monthly Star Sign Makeup Tag - Aries ♥

Hello dollies! I'm back with a continuation of the  monthly makeup tag feature I began in January showcasing makeup inspired by the twelve signs of the zodiac. The two other bloggers and I who took part in last months Pisces inspired tag received a lot of great feedback on our looks so thanks so much for reading and commenting, all comments were greatly appreciated! I once again put out a Twitter call looking for fellow makeup loving beauty bloggers to join in with the tag, unfortunately no one was willing to take up the challenge but I was delighted when the lovely ladies Leanne and Hanna agreed to take part again. If anyone else feels inspired to take part in our monthly makeup tag then don't hesitate to email me at fionairish@eircom.net

As April is largely taken up by the star sign Aries - the ram, we decided to continue with that sign.
The first look comes from Leanne who blogs at Rants, Raves and Rambles. I love how Leanne used the two eye shadow colours for her look, they absolutely stunning!

When asked what inspired her to create this look to demonstrate Aries Leanne said - "When doing my research for the Zodiac sign Aries, I learnt that its element is Fire and decided to use that as my inspiration for this look. I chose a coppery-orange colour with flecks of glitter throughout for my lid and a darker red for the crease. Then I out some black through the crease to add a smokey (no pun intended) effect. I added the green under the eyes for an earthy feel. Continuing with the Fire theme, I used more deep reds for my blush and lip colours".

The products Leanne used were -

Face:
Rimmel Match Perfection Light Perfecting Radiance Foundation (010 Light Porcelain)
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer (1 Fair)
Collection Sheer Loose Powder (2 Translucent)

Eyes:
MUA White Eyeliner (as a base)
MAC Mineralise Eyeshadow (Faux Gold)
MAC Eyeshadow (Cranberry)
MAC Mega Metal Shadow (Ego)
Sleek V2 Mattes Dark Palette (Dark Green and Black)
Benefit BADGal Lash Mascara
Inglot Matte Eyeshadow (358 for brows)

Cheeks and Lips:
Benefit 10 (Contour and Highlight)
Sleek Blush (Fenberry)
Sleek True Colour Lipstick (Cranberry)

The second look comes from Hanna who blogs at Makeup by Hanna.
Hanna is such a makeup talent, all her eye looks are out of this world!

When asked what inspired her to create this Pisces look Hanna said - "I was supposed to do a very cool and artsy look but no matter what I did my brushes didn't obey me so I went for a very wearable look for change. I kind of took on the whole fire sign thing and Aries colours included red so there was the inspiration".

The products Hanna used were -
Bitch Slap  Cosmetics glitter, Concrete Minerals eye shadows: 'Ember' and 'Fame', Sugarpill eye shadows 'Tako' and 'Love+'.

The final look comes from little old me and if you didn't know this is my blog, thanks for stopping by and reading!

My inspiration for this Aries look came from Aries being a fire sign and it's signature colour being scarlet. I have no red coloured eye shadow so I used the Yves Saint Laurent lipstick to outline the eyeshadow and as an eyeliner on the bottom lash line. I mixed pink and coral eye shadows to get as red of a colour as I could. Aries gemstone is a diamond so I used jewel encrusted lashes to give a bit of bling to the look.

The products I used were MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation in NW25, Benefit 'Bella Bamba' blush, Yves Saint Laurent 'Rouge In Danger' lipstick, Sugarpill eye shadows in 'Tako' and 'Dollipop', Lime Crime eye shadow in 'Coral of the Story' and Eyelure Girls Aloud Festival Lashes.

I love how everyone interpreted the star sign of Aries in a different way even though our ideas were pretty similar! These types of makeup tags really allow for creativity and every ones own personal take on what something symbolises to them, that's why I love taking part in them. Thanks so much to Hanna and Leanne for taking part again and I hope they'll take part in next months Taurus inspired makeup feature. Remember, if you'd like to join us then please email me for details. It's really fun creating these looks and it's great to see what everyone else comes up with too.

Monthly Star Sign Makeup Tag - Pisces ♥

Hello dollies! I'm back with a continuation of the new monthly makeup tag feature I began in January showcasing makeup inspired by the twelve signs of the zodiac. The three bloggers and I who took part in last months Aquarius inspired tag received a lot of great feedback on our looks so thanks so much for reading and commenting, all comments were greatly appreciated!

As February is largely taken up by the star sign Pisces - the fish, we decided to continue with that sign.

The first look comes from Leanne who blogs at Rants, Raves and Rambles. I love the eye shadow colours Leanne used for her look, they are stunning!

When asked what inspired her to create this look to demonstrate Pisces Leanne said - "I had a lot of fun with this one! I know that Pisces is represented by the two fish and is a water sign, but I didn’t want to use blue and purples again. Instead, I decided to use teal and green. I used a bright green in the inner corners, a spring green over the lid and a teal in the outer corners and the crease, with a tiny bit of bright blue. I blended these so they gave a gradient effect. I then lined the upper lash-line with black and, here’s the fun part, I flicked it out at the end and made it look like a little fish tail! I finished the look off with a shimmery pink blush and sparkly pink lipstick".

The products Leanne used were -
Face:
Revlon ColourStay Foundtion in 110 Ivory
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in 1 Fair
Collection Sheer Loose Powder in 2 Translucent
Illamasqua Powder Blush in Morale

Eyes:
Sleek Ultra Matte Palette V1 Brights (Bright Green and Blue)
MAC Eyeshadow in Surf USA (Surf Baby Collection)
MAC Eyeshadow in Sunny Spot
Maybelline Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner (Black)
Benefit BADGal Lash Mascara (Black)

Lips:
MUA Lipstick in Shade 2

The second look comes from Hanna who blogs at Makeup by Hanna.
Hanna is like my new makeup inspiration guru, I love every look she creates on her blog, they are absolutely amazing and this look is no exception!

When asked what inspired her to create this Pisces look Hanna said - "Reading about Pisces made me want to do something that's dreamy and reminds me of being under water. and I knew right away I wanted the look to have scales on it :)!!  I also Googled the colours of Pisces and seafoam green and mint were the colours I found most".

The products Hanna used were -
Lime Crime: citreuse, quill and blue milk eyeliners, parasol, lotus noir and atlanteal eyeshadows, Sugarpill: darling and lumi eyeshadows, Fyrinnae: glitterboi eyeshadow and pixie epoxy, Urban Decay primer potion.

The final look comes from little old me and if you didn't know this is my blog, thanks for stopping by and reading!

My inspiration for this Pisces look came from a card I have which is Pisces themed and it is so magical. The colours I used were light blue, dark blue and dark green to represent the colours of the ocean. The four shadows I used all have a shimmery effect which to me represented the sun reflecting off the water. Also I'm a Pisces born March 9th and these are some of my favourite colours all in one makeup look!

The products I used were L'Oreal Lumi Magique Foundation. MAC powder blusher in 'Gentle'. MAC Mineralise Eye Shadow in 'Sea & Sky' and 'Smutty Green'. Sleek True Colour Lipstick in 'Amethyst'. MUA 'Undressed' Palette. MAC Eye Brow Pencil in 'Dirty Blonde'. Benefit 'They're Real!' Mascara. GOSH Liquid Eyeliner in 'Black'.

I love how everyone interpreted the star sign of Pisces in a different way! These types of makeup tags really allow for creativity and every ones own personal take on what something symbolises to them, that's why I love taking part in them. Thanks so much to Hanna and Leanne for taking part and I hope they'll take part in next months Aries inspired makeup feature. Remember, if you'd like to join us then please email me for details. It's really fun creating these looks and it's great to see what everyone else comes up with too.
