This Christmas I am trying to decorate my home with handmade items, not only supporting small craft businesses but also having a go at making some things myself. Now I cannot sew, by any means, but when I was given two packs of Hobbycraft Christmas felt decoration kits I decided it was time to give sewing a go and try to make something pretty myself. I was given a two pack of felt heart decorations and a two pack of felt reindeer decoration, the latter which I have yet to make, I'm pacing myself! Each pack comes with instructions which are quite easy to follow and the pack has everything you need to make the decorations bar glue or a sewing kit, whichever your preference may be.
I made two felt hearts stitched with my fiance and sons name and I'm actually quite proud of them, especially my fiance's, I added a little bow to the top and I think it looks quite pretty on our tree. The best thing is I made them myself and that's such a lovely sentiment to have at Christmas time, the joy and satisfaction of knowing that you decorated your home with things yourself and others have made instead of store bought decorations. I think the Hobbycraft Christmas range has some great bargains to decorate your home this Christmas and the fact that the kits are so easy to follow and have almost everything you need to make something beautiful is fantastic, especially for people like me who aren't experienced in making things from scratch.
I think these kits are great fun for experienced sewers who may wish to make their own decorations or even for novices like me who want to learn to sew and make something pretty for their home this Christmas. You can find the felt heart decoration kit and the felt reindeer decoration kit at your nearest Hobbycraft store or on the Hobbycraft website, both are just £3.00. Hobbycraft have a wide range of 'make your own' decorations in their Christmas range, I especially love their owl and gingerbread man decorations. When I have my reindeer completed and on my tree I'll make sure to post a picture.
Are you making any of your own decorations this Christmas?
Stay pretty people!
