Hello dollies! I'm back with a continuation of the new monthly makeup tag feature I began in January showcasing makeup inspired by the twelve signs of the zodiac. The two bloggers and I who took part in last months Capricorn inspired tag received a lot of great feedback on our looks so thanks so much for reading and commenting, all comments were greatly appreciated! I once again put out a Twitter call looking for fellow makeup loving beauty bloggers to join in with the tag. I was delighted when the lovely Sarah agreed to take part again. I also contacted a Finnish blogger named Hanna who also takes part in the weekly makeup tag I do and asked her if she'd like to take part as I'm always in awe of her stunning makeup looks, this tag is no exception! I was so happy when she obliged. If anyone else feels inspired to take part in our monthly makeup tag then don't hesitate to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
As February is largely taken up by the star sign Aquarius - the water bearer, we decided to continue with that sign.
The first look comes from Sarah who blogs at Allure Cube. Sarah is a London based blogger. Her look is amazing! I love the blue lips.
When asked what inspired her to create this look to demonstrate Aquarius Sarah said - "I didn't actually think about this one at all previously, I just kind of sat at my dressing table and went for it. All I knew was that I didn't want to go all over blue and end up looking like an Ice Queen which was why I added the pink blush, which adds some warmth. I really enjoyed doing Aquarius and felt really inspired by the blue theme".
The products Sarah used were - Benefit's 'They're Real' Mascara, Ruby Recommends Palette, Rimmel Kajal eyeliner in 'White', Avon Arabian Glow eyeliner in 'Vivacious Turquoise', Nars Angelika Blush and Barry M Glitter Dust in 27 & 20.
The second look comes from Hanna who blogs at Hannuli1. Hanna is a Finnish blogger. I'm totally in love with her look, but then again I seem to love every makeup look Hanna creates!
When asked what inspired her to create this Aquarius look Hanna said - "My inspiration was the creative and playful nature of the Aquarius sign and the air element (that's the swirls!). I also Googled Aquarius colours and there were turquoise, blue and violet so i kind of went from there :)".
The products Hanna used were - Sugarpill in 'Afterparty', 'Poison Plum', 'Tako'. MAC in 'Shimmermoss', Urban Decay Naked palette in 'Sin', 'Virgin', 'Creep'. Lime Crime in 'Ribbonesque' on the waterline. Urban Decay 24/7 glide on eye pens in 'Deviant' and 'Zero'. Urban Decay primer potion. Lime Crime 'Orchidaceous' uniliner. MAC lipstick in 'Rebel'. Lime Crime carousel gloss in 'Loop-de-Loop'. MAC blush in 'Pinch o' Peach and Urban Decay brow box in 'Honey Pot'.
The third look comes from Leanne who blogs at Rants-Raves-Rambles. Leanne is a Dublin based blogger, happy to have another Irish lady on board with the tag this week! I love how long Leanne's lashes are!
When asked what inspired her to create this Aquarius look Leanne said - "
To inspire me for this look, I decided to research what kind of colours are generally associated with Aquarius. I found that Aquarius is usually depicted with deep blues and purples. This was great because blue and purple are my favourite colours and I absolutely love how they go together. I focused the colour on the eyes and used more natural colours on the rest of my face".
The products Leanne used were -
For the eyes - Sleek Ultra Mattes V1 (Brights) Palette, Rimmel Black Kohl Eyeliner and Benefit 'BADGal Lash' Mascara. For the face - Revlon ColourStay Foundation, Collection 2000 concealer and powder, Nars 'Orgasm' and Benefit '10'. For the lips - 17 Beehive Lipstick.
The final look comes from little old me and if you didn't know this is my blog, thanks for stopping by and reading!
My inspiration for this Aquarius look came from a photograph on an Aquarius themed makeup shoot. The colours used were light blue, dark blue and hot pink, I loved the contrast on the two colours and wanted to try out the look for myself so I decided to do a duo shadow eye and blended the two to create a type of 'wave' effect. I highlighted the lower lash line with the lighter blue colour.
The products I used were L'Oreal Lumi Magique Foundation. MAC powder blusher in 'Fleur Power'. MAC Mineralise Eye Shadow in 'Sea & Sky'. A MAC dupe powder blusher in 'Hot Pink'. MAC lipstick in 'Lickable'. MAC Eye Brow Pencil in 'Dirty Blonde'. The white shadow from my MAC Hello Kitty palette.
I love how everyone interpreted the star sign of Aquarius in a different way even though the colour combinations are generally the same! These types of makeup tags really allow for creativity and every ones own personal take on what something symbolises to them, that's why I love taking part in them. Thanks so much to Sarah, Hanna and Leanne for taking part and I hope they'll take part in next months Pisces inspired makeup feature. Remember, if you'd like to join us then please email me for details. It's really fun creating these looks and it's great to see what everyone else comes up with too.
Stay pretty people!
